Chris Zurbrigg shows two new features that he has added into Blue Pencil, his multi-purpose drawing tool for Maya. Here Chris shows the new custom color pallet which will allow you to easily switch between colors using a color palette. You are also able to easily edit the colors showing in the color panel.

…Version 1.02 brings with it several new features including a customizable color palette and a floating viewport for displaying thumbnails/reference while animating…

The other is the addition of Blue Pencil View which is a floating viewport that can display the Blue Pencil drawings that you have created – moving the drawings to a new window / camera that can be used for reference. Check out the Blue Pencil Sketchpad for Maya on Chris Zurbrigg’s site.

Blue Pencil is a plugin for Maya that brings 2D drawing to the 3D viewport and it is built to be a multi-purpose tool that can be used to Grease Pencil, planning, annotation and illustration, create animation thumbnails, rough blocking and arc tracking, Model layout and topology planning, Shot review tool and also Tutorials and screen-casting.
