Best names for plugins possibly ever? Artixels previews two new additions to the Escher suite of image generations and Relighting tools for NUKE with skyWalker and depthVader.

This video brings you preview of 2 plugins from the Escher album in action, they are skyWalker, a daylight generator and depthVader, a 2.5D multi-purpose depth shader

skyWalker in Escher for NUKE is an image generator plugin that creates physically accurate daylight providing standard daylight system controls such as details for sun azimuth, turbidity, and ground reflection. skyWalker supports pinhole camera mode as well as three other light probe formats.

depthVader is more of a creative tool as multipurpose depth shader for NUKE that allows you to explore creative possibilities in depth image map creation. depthVader offers a gradient blur to fake subsurface scattering and can also produce other data outputs derived from depth including a depth gradient and 3D normal vectors.

Escher for NUKE comes from the mind of Small boutique VFX software developer Mike Wong, Artixels, who has been working on Escher which provides a suite of 10 essential plugins for The Foundry’s NUKE that provide advanced 2.5D lighting and image generation effects. Recently Escher has been released as a beta for Win64 and Linux64, and Artixels is scheduling an official release for some time in December this year. Artixel also has plans to expand the Escher suite of plugins to other compositors other than NUKE in the near future, perhaps After Effects will benefit from the suite as well
