Florian Sepp shares his FS_preview_accelerator Plugin for Cinema 4D which is quite useful for heavy Cinema 4D scenes. FS_preview_accelerator Tag speeds up your Cinema 4D display, only when the camera moves or the timeline is moving. It does this by deactivating or blending in/out any object that is designated with this new Tag.

FS_preview_accelerator tries to speed up your editor view by blending out and deactivating objects in the Cinema 4D viewport

How is this better than just changing the visibility of objects as you go, you might ask? Well, Florian notes that if the objects are simply deactivated, they no longer will render, where the FS_preview_accelerator Plugin will only operate on the Editor View in Cinema 4D. I am sure we have all at one point, sent a render off forgetting to turn objects back on and then return to find the renders were wrong… some of us more than once.

Florian has provided a short tutorial on the FS_preview_accelerator Plugin’s use, and also a post with the download link which you can find on his site.
