LightStorm3D has released an update to the L3Library for Maya which provides Maya nodes, commands, scripted classes and functions and is the core library in which LightStorm’s tools are actually based on. LightStorm3D provides the L3library “as is” for other to create custom tools based on the Nodes and functions in the library.

This update contains two major new tools L3 Rename and L3 Geo Locator, beside other support tools and utility nodes

The new release to the L3Library for Maya actually contains two new major tools in L3 Rename, and Geo Locator as well as bunch of other utilities and tools included in the update.

The new Rename tool can handle various node naming contexts such as zero padding and removal of namespaces, and replacing substrings. It can also provide a preview list of the affected nodes in Maya based on the chosen filter type and mode settings, which is handy.

The Geo Locator is developed to be an alternative to Maya’s follicle Node and allows you to rivet or pin transform nodes to either to mesh or NURBS surfaces in Maya, including support for NURBS curves as well. The Geo Locator Tool has settings for placement, wave and noise generators for animating position and rotation procedurally, and an integrated dynamics system.
