The Pixar GPU team presented at the Autodesk Developers Network Conference on November 2012, showing off OpenSubdiv open source library from Pixar which will allow developers some consistency in adding and developing subdivision technologies into products, tool, and pipelines. OpenSubdiv was first announced at the Siggraph 2012 conference, and from that initial look, OpenSubdiv showed to be incredibly fast.

This is a presentation to Autodesk employees and plugin developers at the Autodesk University Developer conference is Las Vegas, November 26th, 2012

Here, the Pixar GPU Team including Dirk Van Gelder, Manuel Kraemer, David Yu and Takahito Tejima covers the Pixar SubDiv Open Source initiative and library in depth during the presentation.

OpenSubdiv is a set of open source libraries that use high-performance subdivision surface evaluation on CPU and GPU processors. OpenSubdiv is the same subdivision technology that Pixar have created, researched and used over the years, and now is still an active collaboration on fast GPU drawing between Microsoft Research and Pixar.
