BlenderArtist’s community member Lockal shares a Blender Addon written in Python adding the ability to use and render IES Light profiles in Blender Cycles. The ies2cycles.py imports and can use photometric IES lights right in Blender Cycles Rendering engine with a few controls. [via BlenderNation]
After installation of this addon new item “IES To Cycles” appears inside “File” -> “Import” menu (also don’t forget about space menu)
IES Files from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) provides the standards for lighting engineers, creating a format For the transfer of Luminaire Component Data which most rendering engines can read and use. You can check out the Blender IES Light Addon here, for more information and a download link.
