X-Particles creator Mike Batchelor provides an overview for some of the new features in the new X-Particles 2 for Cinema 4D, showing the basis of using the Questions and Actions System as well as a general overview for getting started using X-Particles 2.

This tutorial shows you the basic usage of the x-particles v2 emitter

In addition the the Questions and Actions System Mike looks at using the new emitter, the inbuilt rendering options, as well as the X-Particles 2 Skinner Object. X-Particles 2 recently has seen an absolutely HUGE release adding features as a skinner object, a novel approach to metaball type objects in cinema, as well as SPH fluid and MultiPhysics simulations. X-Particles 2 comes in the Standard Version for 149 euros or roughly $190, and a Pro version for 249 euros, roughly $330.

The X-Particles partial features list includes:

  • multithreaded emitter and other components – far faster when using very large particle counts
  • up to 1 billion particles on screen (if your computer can hack it!)
  • two commercial versions, Standard and Professional
  • new Skinner object (Pro version) – forget the old C4D Metaball object!
  • set of new Xpresso nodes (Pro version)
  • new SPH fluid simulation and multiphysics (Pro version)
  • most modifiers enhanced with significant additional features and functionality
  • Trail object has new algorithms for connecting generated splines
  • online updating system for rapid updates and bug fixes
  • new modifiers, including Attractor, Follow Spline, Morph, Rotator, and Wind modifiers
  • particle editing (Pro version)
  • particle rendering without needing the Hair module – a greatly improved volume shader
