3D Generaist and Art Director Timothy Hanson gives a great explanation of how to set up linear workflow in Autodesk Maya with V-Ray.

You can always count on there being a lot of tutorials covering linear workflow, as it does take a few times to get your head around the how and why. Having said that, setting up a linear workflow in V-Ray proves to be a little easier and more sensible than doing so in mental ray Maya.

There’s a lot of confusion out there about what linear workflow is, and how to properly implement it

Timothy does a great job of walking though the V-Ray linear setup, and then takes it one step further by using Nuke as a tool to actually verify the colorspace of the textures that are rendered from Maya V-ray.-good stuff.
