Adam O’Hern offers up a Modo plugin that will present drop down menu to the Modes toolbar giving you easy access to MatCap Shaders for Modo Modeling. Bling offers an easy way to place matCap shaders on your model with single click, offering a great way to evaluate your surface as you are modeling.

Bling allows you to customize the menu, and easily add standard surfaces such as clay, HDR, studio, or zebra stripes shaders to name a few. It is a great way to get realtime surface evaluation as you are working.
The $5.00 Kit gives you a MODO modes bar dropdown auto-magically adds and removes a single matcap (“mecco_bling”) to the top of the shader tree, a dynamically-generated menu allows you to add your own madcaps, and includes 23 pre-made matcaps, and 2 LXO scenes for creating more of your own.
