Have a Chat With Your Tracker. SynthEyes Adds an Assistant You Can Instruct By Voice

Andersson Technologies has revealed a new direction in its SynthEyes 3D tracking application with the addition of a chat-style natural language control over SynthEyes in its new technology deemed Synthia.

The SynthEyes Instructible Assistant, ie Synthia, enables chat-style natural language control

A New Approach to Workflow

Synthia is an assistant in SynthEyes that you can respond to spoken instructions, so in essence you can simply tell Synthia to to something and the Assistant will do it. You might think that this is similar to what you would see in Siri or Google Now, However its more than that.

Synthia responds to specific instructions, either simple or complex, and she can be instructed by the user to add more functionality, thereby increasing the items or actions that you can tell Synthia to perform… such as Blade Runner-esque “Sythnia… Enhance 57 to 19. Track 45 left. Stop.” Which would be the first thing I would teach it to do.

It’s important to note that Synthia is not simply speech recognition. In fact, the speech recognition is actually supplied by the host operation system. the technology behind Synthia lies in understanding and completing complex interactions to the point of being much more versatile in a professional workflow application such as SynthEyes.

Check it out in action, and check the press released added below for more information on Synthia in SynthEyes.

Synthia Introduces Itself in SynthEyes 1407 3-D Tracker

Revolutionary new productivity tool with natural language text and voice control

* July 24th, 2014. Phoenixville, PA. For immediate release.

The latest 1407 version of Andersson Technologies LLC’s SynthEyes 3-D tracking application includes a revolutionary new productivity tool, Synthia. The SynthEyes Instructible Assistant, ie Synthia, enables chat-style natural language control. Unlike simpler assistants such as Siri or Google Now, Synthia responds to specific instructions, simple or complex, and can be instructed by the user in English to add additional functionality. Cloud communications make possible rapid improvement based on users’ experiences.

According to company owner Russ Andersson, “Software users in general, and tracking artists in particular, face increasingly complex tasks and shrinking timescales. Pro applications have added many features and much flexibility, but users have less and less time to learn them. Graphical interaction has become complex, with layer after layer of menus and a multitude of icons of uncertain function. Nor do most users have the programming expertise necessary to automate simple tasks using conventional scripting languages. Synthia shows the way to a new future where software is able to understand natural language instructions and perform tasks directly, with a paradigm that is at once very new and very old: the spoken and written word.”

Synthia consists of an extensive underlying infrastructure, which has then been taught about SynthEyes. Accordingly, there is the prospect that Synthia may control other applications in the future as well.

Other new features in 1407 include “notes” for communications between tracking artists and supervisors and a variety of additional smaller features and bug fixes.

Customers can explore the free demonstration version of SynthEyes with Synthia on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux, starting at http://www.ssontech.com/regis.htm Tutorials on 1407 functionality are available through the website.
