Charlie Wales (Carlos Rico Adega) posts another handy script that sets out to reveal all the hidden locations of Maya Icons. This new script is kind of inline with his last, which offered an easy method for finding which Maya Environment Variables are being listed and loaded.
The Maya Icons script will show you the default Icon set, searching for icons then displaying them in a Maya Panel. You can also have the Maya Icons script search for all icons, not just the default ones.
Selecting a listed icon in the panel will give you that icon’s name that you can use in your own scripts or Maya UI’s or use on the Maya Shelf. The script also has a tab for listing the locations for each icon, showing you were they are found on the local drive or otherwise.
