Make Parts of your Models Stretchy With the New Membrane Deformer for Cinema 4D

Curios Animal (CuriousAnimal.tv) have added some great deformers to the C4D toolset in the past, with their Motion Stretch plugin, and ReBend Deformer. Recently they have released another very useful plugin, the membrane deformer.

Membrane Deformer for Cinema 4D lets you make portions of your models stretchy

The Membrane Deformer for C4D

The Membrane Deformer can make parts of your C4D geometry stretch between the rest of your object. Think of the webbing in a ducks foot, or the parts between the tentacles of an octopus. This is what the Membrane Deformer is meant for in C4D – great for create effects such as bat wings, or anything that needs to stretch as secondary animation.

The Membrane Deformer works well with C4D’s own built in character animation tools. Simply apply it below the skin object to stretch between toes, arms or even lips.

The deformer includes a squash and stretch feature, so it is able to deal with the mass of the object that you are deforming. The flexible parts can get thicker when they are pushed closer together, and thin out as they are pulled apart, for a much more realistic deformation.

Curious Animal notes that the Membrane Deformer will give you good results without tweaking in many cases, but also includes powerful smoothing and sampling controls to help get better results for more complicated models.

C4D Membrane Deformer Pricing

The plugin is a near $36.00 to purchase, and if you want to kick the tires a bit, the Membrane Deformer can be downloaded as a trial demo from the Curious Animal site. Check out the Membrane Deformer for C4D.
