PlayBlastVR

Andrew Hazelden adds an update to his tool for creating immersive previs renderings from the Maya PlayBlast command. Previously only available for Windows, version 1.2 adds support for both Mac and Linux systems.

PlayblastVR works well with Maya 2016 and the new build includes a redesigned PlayblastVR menu system

The Maya plugin is a renderer that generates panoramic images in the hardware renderer using OpenGL or DirectX. The PlayblastVR renderer allows you to create immersive previz renderings of Maya scenes in fulldome, latlong, and cubic panorama formats.

In addition to full support for Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and 10.10 Yosemite, and Linux 64-Bit – the full-dome tool also includes support for Maya 2016 with a new and redesigned menu system, and some other changes that will improve the overall experience of using PlayblastVR in Maya.

PlayblastVR 1.2 now includes a new PlayblastVR batch sequence viewer option in the render settings window for the popular fulldome preview tool Amateras Dome Player. You can now use Amateras to automatically review your latest fulldome and LatLong previz movie renderings at full resolution.

Licensing terms on PlayblastVR have been updated. They now include cross-platform license usage that offers more flexibility.
