Maya’s Bifrost has become an extremely capably tool from it’s not so humble beginnings as Naiad. However, it would come to no surprise that people would want to bring in Bifrost into Krakatoa.

Krakatoa represents Thinkbox Software’s volumetric particle rendering solution, allowing you to manage, manipulate and render particles with a high degree of control and speed.

Here, Autodesk’s Adrian Graham shows how you can convert Maya Bifrost files (.bif) to the Krakatoa Particle File Format (.prt). The Particle File Format is the standard file format used in Krakatoa, that supports the features that the system has to offer.

Adrian notes that the process for converting the files is quite simple, but there’s a few things to help you set up your environment that will make your life much easier.
