If you are in the motion graphics biz, you will make animated graphs or an animated chart or two. Typically that data for the chart may come from a spreadsheet like Excel.
a simple tutorial on how to convert excel data into animated graphs or a bar graph in Houdini
Here, Houdini trainer, Rohan Dalvi, walks us through the process for creating animated graphs using Houdini’s unique procedural approach. It is interesting to see how a nodes-based setup can make the task much more flexible.
Rohan uses a simple tab delimited text file that was exported out of Excel and brought into Houdini, and then extrapolates the graph into a representation in the viewport.
Rohan has a great training series that shows how to create amazing looking user interfaces and motion graphics using Houdini. The series runs over seven hours of content, for around $40 per. Check out user interfaces and motion graphics for more information.
