Before i give thanks to those who helped the making of this video i would like to give some context before you watch it.
Denature approached me and asked me to make a video for their new EP. I had previously agreed to this with a handshake so i accepted the challenge. I envisaged a nice simple storytelling narrative. How wrong was I?

Escape is very textual and chaotic. It is deep with feeling and fused with anger and pain. Suddenly i thought “Ey up” I’m going to have to do something different here.

So, i engaged the video in an organic way. I decided to forgo the rigorous structure. Shoot a loose narrative with a greenscreen and start building images. Images that would jar with each other but underneath maintain the thread of the song. To tell a story in a more abstract way. Hopefully you will get something from the video and song together as i think they represent each other in the abstract and textural manner.
In short I wanted people to watch the video and think “What the hell was that?” and then maybe watch it again, and again. Whether liked or disliked i did not want to produce a video where some would say “ yeah! It’s nice”.
It was a really difficult project to pull off in just over 3 months. I had few locations so it was all VFX and greenscreen.
The scenery is created with decay in mind and for this i turned to ADAM X – an Urbex maestro who really does take some beautiful and provocative shots. Applying some camera mapping brought his images to life and i would like to thank him for being great throughout. check him here adamxphotos.com/

Thanks!
