Morteza Ahmadi posts a script that he has been tooling away on for Autodesk Maya, that brings a Zbrush DynaMesh-like ability to Maya’s internal sculpting tools.

ZBrush’s DynaMesh offers a topological free sculpting process, handling the polygon distribution as you sculpt.

Morteza Ahmadi’s script for Maya offers two ways for combining meshes. The Voxel Based system allows you to add objects together and boolean subtract from them, letting you model basic forms really quickly. The other method, is a more accurate (but slower) Particle Based system better keeps the form of the original objects.
