Argentinian designer Ezequiel Grand otherwise known as Caskal, walks us through how he created an effect in his last project — Creating Liquid and fluid contour lines overtop of a model in Houdini.
The scene is fairly straight forward to put together, and gives you an interesting fluid-like count or lines animating over any model. Ezequiel offers up the Houdini Scene file for the project, if you want to download it, follow along, or pull it apart.
A similar technique was first posted by 3D Artist Stefan Sietzen who used Houdini VEX to generate the lines on the surface. The lines were animated by having an attractor or a target in the scene. Moving the target will motivate the lines in that direction.
