Motion Graphics Artist Kyle Martinez offers up yet another free and useful preset adding some sparkle to After Effects’ cracks. His Stroke preset gives Ae users an easy and intuitive way to add the stroke layer style without having to twirl down several states of properties until you finally find what you need. Like his last free preset Inner Shadow, Stroke brings all that out front in the effects panel, acting like a native Ae tool.
The native Ae stroke asks for a mask. This makes it difficult to add a stroke to layers with an alpha, such as an imported element, from let’s say Flash. This would also be as difficult with Ae’s preComp. Stroke lets you do all that, at the click of a button. Nice.
