A video tutorial where Leo Covarrubias goes over how to do a basic but accurate 3D Motion Track in Boujou. Some of the topics covered are, radial camera distortion compensation, tips for quality footage, exporting a track scene to Autodesk Maya. This is a great introduction to Boujou and its interface and will let you integrate 3d objects and characters into live action footage easily.

This is the best tutorial I’ve found for Boujou yet. I’m still having trouble though. After trying for a few days, I managed to get what seemed like a good track, but it didn’t track the whole thing. The camera is hand-held, and pans. The track looks great but about 3/4 of the way through the pan, there aren’t any more prediction points and the camera just stops. Any idea what the problem might be?

  8. best tutorial for boujou. so clear and important stuff. thanks lots!

  9. When you placed test objects (the arrow and the ladybug) in Boujou, I could see how you dragged them on the x and z axes (right-left and in-out). But how did you position them on the y axis? In other words, how did you know they were sitting on the ground, rather than floating above the ground, or sinking into the ground?

Yes,the best tutorial for Boujou, but please can you make a tutorial about getting the camera solve right in a footage with zoom(large zoom).
I’ve tried to do it myself but no good results.I searched all over the internet but I didn’t found something clear. The only thing that I know is that you have to input the right value for Focal Length but I don’t how to find the right value.
So if you can do a tutorial or maybe somebody could help me at least with some tips I would much appreciate it.

    Thanks.

  13. This is certainly one of the best tutorials on the web regarding video tracking. I have watched various videos over he past year, none can compare to this one fro sure. I suggest, that you do a few more but with the camera in 2 -3 location points.

Because selecting the X,Y.Z, Z-X plane etc can be a bit confusing when you have to choose the right coordinates for a particular video.
