In a continuation of the Nuke in Production Series, Dave Scotland provides an overview of Nuke’s Keying Tools and matte workflow, taking a look at how Nuke handles creating luma mattes, and compares the process with After Effects.

In this part, we’ll take a look at the tools available in Nuke for pulling a key. We’ll step through various tools and explore many of the strengths and weaknesses of these tools

If you have used After Effects, the KeyLight plugin is the same as the one running under Nuke, as they are both from The Foundry. Dave shows how to create a luma key in After Effects and then compares that process with how it is done in Nuke, demonstrating how the skills will transfer from one application to the other.
