How to Create a Fire Effect in Fusion using Fabric

Vito LaManna shows how you can turn shot footage of fabric into a fire effect in Fusion.

Take a break from fire simulations and effects-based assets and look at this new tutorial from Con-Fusion (Vito LaManna). The tutorial shows how you can turn shot footage of a fabric waving and turn that into a fire effect in Davinci Resole or Fusion.

“People are always trying to find solutions in the domain of the digital tools, forgetting that this used to be handled entirely different back in the days when limitations had to lead to innovations.” Vito uses GridWarp, Vortex, MultiMerge in Fusion to achieve the effect.

The fire effect used a piece of fabric shot on a Blackmagic camera. Old-school!
