Recently Otoy has announced the GPU accelerated Octane render’s availability for Blender, rounding out the product’s host applications. Otoy has also made available the demo version for Octane render in Blender, so you can now kick the tires and take it out for a spin.

We are pleased to announce the availability of a demo version of OctaneRender for BlenderOtoy

Also of note, is the fact that if you are a student, you can get Otoy’s Octane Render for free. Octane Render along with the plugins for Blender, 3Ds Max, (and soon coning Autodesk Maya) are free for students that have a valid .edu email address.

The demo version of Octane Render for Blender has some limitations which includes a render resolution limit of 1000 x 600, with a watermark displaying in the viewport and rendered output. You are also not able to save the viewport renders, and LiveDB access is missing. So it is indeed a demo version.
