Ji Inn Jung is a recent graduate from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She produced Beluga in her final year of studies, as her graduation project. She worked on all aspects of the project, from concept through illustration and animation, with help from a few friends. Young Ho Do, a classmate, helped with the 3D beluga Animation. and Hyung jin Ji did the 3D beluga rigging. The music was composed by Namiko Mori, who is presently studying film scoring.
The animation style was influenced by After Effects guru and Master illustrator Dan Gies. Ji Inn followed his tutorials that show character animation in After Effects using FreeForm Pro. Ji Inn designed and created the main character, backgrounds and props in Photoshop. For the main character, she painted all the details to add dimension and give a more hand-painted illustration style. The 2D images were imported into After Effects for compositing and animating.
