Steven Roselle Sr. Solutions Specialist for Maya, Motionbuilder, and Mudbox takes a look at stereoscopy in Autodesk Maya 2011.

“This week I’m in the bay area for the Sony DevCon. I was asked to do a presentation on the Stereo capabilities of Maya as part of a broader talk on “Stereo for games”.  So I figured I might as well post the presentation here for general viewing. Keep in mind that I am by no means an expert in Stereoscopy, but hopefully those of you that are interested in the subject can at least get an idea of how it is done in Maya.”

You can also check out the Stereoscopic Filmmaking page on the  Autodesk website www.autodesk.com/stereoscopy. For more detail on the concepts behind stereoscopy check out the Autodesk whitepaper on the subject Autodesk Stereoscopy Whitepaper. In addition my co-worker and friend Louis Marcoux has put together and excellent series of movies that cover the concepts behind stereo and what he calls “Comfortable Stereoscopy”. He also discusses how to work with stereo in 3ds Max. Stereoscopy in Max
