Guillaume Laforge shows us (and shares) a little ICE compound that generates a polygon mesh with procedural radial cracks acting like shattered glass. Pretty cool stuff. You can download the component here.

ICE Modeling : Procedural Bullet Shattered Glass Compound from Guillaume Laforge on Vimeo.

“Radial cracks are typical patterns made by a bullet shattering a glass. They propagate from the impact point and also connect between them like a spider web. Fragments size is related to their distance from the center of the impact. This little ICE compound will generate a polygon mesh with this kind of topology. It is not physically based, but gives good artistic controls.”
