Stefan Surmabojov provides a quick tip for After Effects showing how to utilize dual monitors when working with After Effects projects. Check out the tutorial for Setting Up After Effects for Dual Monitor Workspace Layout here.

Although it may take a while to get used to, one of the best things in After Effects is the ability to have different sets of workspaces that you are able to have closely at hand. If you are working with dual monitors it may be worth a try to utilize both monitors (rather than just having one for chat windows) if you haven’t tried this yet.

I mention that it may take a while to get used to and that is largely due to the fact that items might feel like they are in different places for a while, but also, depending on how large your dual monitor screen space is you will have to get used to a long mouse journey at times trying to access or key groups of attributes. Keyboard shortcuts definitely come in handy but are limited.
