John Chen Passed me a note mentioning that he broke-down the workflow and the process that he encountered and used in creating his image “The Rat” using V-Ray and V-Ray Fur. Check out the post for the Workflow and Breakdown of using V-Ray Fur and the V-Ray Fur Material here.

Vrayfur looks great, light on system resource and can be used for a lot of things. The downside it is not a dynamic system, but for those tight deadlines where the client just needs fur, this is the way to go.

Not being able to find anything online regarding V-Ray fur John created a post as well as providing a PDF version of the breakdown on his site, where he takes a look at the main concepts for using V-Ray Fur and the V-Ray Fur Material and a look at the workflow involved for using V-Ray Fur. John also talks a bit about how he was able to customize and style the fur using maps and provides some tips for painting maps that are to be used for the V-Ray fur, as well as some points on rigging and rendering his image.

V-Ray Fur is a very simple procedural fur plugin for the V-Ray Renderer being a similar process to other Fur rendering methods where the fur is generated during render time and is not actually present in the scene other than some guides for visual reference.
