On noticing when toggling the visibility of the Softimage Interface Panels, Eric Thivierge identified the command associated with hiding and showing the panels. It is this ToggleOptionalPanel Command Eric demonstrates to specify which parts of the layout are optional, and can create a more flexible, more dynamic custom layout in Softimage.
