François Gastaldo demonstrates how to use the PYLA Layered Shader in Blender, showing how to create a Carbon Fiber material for an automobile render.

Working with layers in shading is a really powerful way to obtain Physically correct and realistic materials and Indeed, it’s not so easy to know what to do with PYLA, So, here is a simple tutorial to learn how to use it

PYLA is an acronym that stands for ‘PhYsically Correct LAyer Mixer’ and is similar to the physically correct layering that has been in Maxwell render for a while now, and more recently in Mental Ray with the MILA shaders.

François Gastaldo showed off Physically Correct Layer Shaders at the last Blender Conference, and has made is Open Source Shading Language version “PYLA” available here.
