With the release of After Effects CS6 which includes a new Ray-Traced Engine for creating and rendering 3D content, there has been need for some clarification on what has happened to the Mettle FreeForm Plugin that was bundled with previous versions of After Effects.
A new post from Mettle explains that the FreeForm 2 Plugin is still available for After Effects CS5 and CS6, and also explains some of the differences in using FreeFrom for After Effects versus the new After Effects Ray-Traced engine – one of the selling points being that FreeForm is incredibly fast and offers more control over bends, twisting and distortion of 3D shapes.
