30 Days of After Effects Day 11: Setting Automatic Follow Though in Animation

Joey Korenman’s School of Motion continues the 30 days of After Effects with a look at applying some animation principles and creating automatic follow through. this is part and the final part of animating a dog in a 3D room in After Effects and Cineware – if you missed part one you can check that out here –  the first part here showing how to build a simple 3D room consisting of a couple of walls and a floor, demonstrating the convenience of having C4D and Ae work together. Check out day 10 of 30 days of after effects 3D Rooms with Cineware / AE.

When you are animating, it is extremely helpful to use some basic principles to guide the motion you create. You won’t have to think as hard about how to make your stuff look good, and you will have a system in place to work efficiently. Today we will talk about follow-through, also called overlapping animation

School of Motion is running 30 Days of After Effects.  The event is sponsored by the Motion Design Department @ The Ringling College of Art & Design.

In addition to releasing a new video every Monday-Friday for the next 6 weeks, School of Motion and Ringling have partnered up to create a contest for visitors to the site.  A user-submitted project will be selected and reviewed by the Motion Design staff, with the review-session being filmed and shared on School of Motion and Ringling social media.  The winner also gets a 30-minute Animation Coaching session with Joey Korenman from School of Motion, and publicity from the contest.
