Awarding creative concepts which bring the digital thinking to a new level, that is the essence of the SpinAwards. For the 2017 award ceremony, cinematic director Tom Hankins turned his visual storytelling experience to an abstract, memorable and epic journey; the symbolic story of how the creative digital industry continuously disrupts and breaks old standards to form new ones, those that are acknowledged by the SpinAwards.
At Colorbleed we generated the simulations and procedural effects using SideFX Houdini. From the drop that splashes, microscopic cracks, growing fibres and tactile surfaces with geometric patterns, shockwaves that blow up dust to the encapsulation of the SpinAwards logo we designed all visuals to work with the story Tom envisioned from the beginning. A story that not only tells how standards are broken time and time again but also keeps you on the edge of your seat whilst being part of the birth of the new digital era.
