Alex Peterson has built SpaceScape, a tool for creating space scenes that are… my God its full of stars… and nebulas. This is a great little tool for building seamless skybox textures for production use in other applications. You can freely download and use a copy of SpaceScape which currently runs on Windows XP and Vista, with plans for an OSX version soon.
