Script Author Brennan Chapman offers True Comp Duplicator Script for After Effects over at aescripts, that creates a complete duplicate of a comp hierarchy including sub-comps. Also, makes sure if a comp is used multiple times that it only gets duplicated once and all remaining references point to the first duplicate. How great is that?

I think it is better to organize your project manually, including duplicating nested comps,
because in big projects one simple “true” comp duplication can make ton of unneeded
comps. Yes, experienced guy can choose when to use or not to use this script,
but beginner will use it all the time and will never learn to organize projects correctly.
So this is useful script but could bring some negative consequences.
