mudbox 2011 subscription new features

By September 11, 2010No Comments

Take a look at the new features and improvements in mudbox available to subscription members. There are new features such as PTEX maps as well as changes and improvements to features like posing, painting, viewport filters and more.

Mudbox 2011 now supports the ability to work with multiple joints in a joint hierarchy, and some new features to the posing tools, including flooding weights and a normalize function. There are also new enhancements to the texture painting workflow with the addition of 22 new layer blend modes, paralleling Mudbox with the layer blends available in Photoshop. Mudbox also provides the ability to extract pTex maps that can be rendered in pTex supported renderers.

Mudbox will also now create multiple levels of subdivision from a mesh that does not have subdivision levels built into it. If you bring in a model from another package, you are able to automatically rebuild multiple levels of subdivision and have it propagate all the way up to the high version of the mesh. Also of important note are the modifications to the interoperability of mudbox to maya where you can send a model to maya, make some topology changes, and have those changes show in mudbox, again propagating all the way up the levels of subdivision.
