Blender recently has seen an update (actually quite huge!) to 2.61 release, bringing forward a lot of the features into the trunk that have been kicking around in the branches. This is kind of a momentous release in that for the first time (since icarus) there is a free, multi-platform and powerful motion tracker available that can export for After Effects and others – however unlike icarus, the Blender Tracker is open source.

The new Blender 2.61 release includes the Cycles Render Engine, Motion Tracking, Dynamic Paint, the Ocean Simulator, an extended Python API, new presets for Camera Sensor size, a Adobe After Effects Exporter, and a Nuke camera animation exporter and importer.
