The Motion Boutique posts a look at the latest features in the Newton Physics Engine for After Effects. Based on the Box2D Physics Engine, Newton interprets each 2D layer as a rigid object in a real environment. Once the simulation is calculated, the corresponding animation is recreated in After Effects as keyframes.
A little overview of the features of Newton v1.1:
- Collision Filtering – Assign collision groups to bodies, and decide which group can collide
- Time Divider – Create super slow motion!!
- Auto Load/Save Settings – Automatically load or save scene settings
- and many bug fixes and improvements
