Faisal from Project4D shows how you are able to automatically change attributes over time based on velocity by using the PlaVelocity Plugin for Cinema 4D created by Art on Bit.

The PLAVelocity tag in Cinema can create velocity based interactions pretty simply by using the PLAVelocity Tag together with the GlobalPSR Tag which is also included. The tag needs a PLA animation to calculate velocities on points and writes those values to a vertex map. This vertex map can then be used to drive a shader or even restrict deformers.
