Matthew Guild provides a quick little demonstration showing how you are able to set looping animation for Paint Effects Brushes in Autodesk Maya by using the Loop Brush Animation command under the Brush Animation in the Paint Effects Menu.

This lesson will teach you how to loop brush animations in order to enhance your animation workflow

This loop the animation that is applied to the behavior settings for that particular Paint Effects Brush in the Viewport. As Matthew notes, looping animation for paint effect brushes works well for pfx brushes that are used in the background, or low resolution, such as trees in the distance, or grasses, providing an easy way to create subtle motion without having to key out the entire animation.
