The Go Procedural channel has added another module for the first steps in learning SideFX Houdini, adding another installment to the Light Shade and Render series, this time looking at gaining a better understanding of the Light Objects available in SideFX Houdini.

This lesson will focus on the different light objects in Houdini. We will start discussing point, spot, line, area, and the sun light

Here, Ari Danesh covers the full range of the different light objects that are available in Houdini, including point, spot, the Line Light (which i miss from other applications) area, and of course sun. He also takes a look at creating IES Light Maps and their attenuation options with a brief look at using portal lights in SideFX Houdini, along side HDRI Maps. Check out the tutorial in the Houdini First Steps Series with Light Shade and Render, Understanding the Light Object in Houdini. Also, you might want to get caught up on the rest of the Light Shade and Render Series here.
