The Foundry Teases MeshFusion for Modo 701, The Boolean Operations We Have All Dreamt About

Certainly creating boolean operations in any 3D application is a mixed bag of hope and disappointment. Probably the best results I have ever had were in using a solid modeler in something like Form•Z or anything that does parametric solids.

Another sneak preview of MeshFusion, this time showing a cool console from designer Gary Fitzgerald

Recently there have been two “teasers” posted by The Foundry which shows some new tech for Modo, MeshFusion, which looks like the boolean tools the way that it has always been dreamed of in 3D, interactive, fast, and always editable as live objects.

Again, from my experience, most of this was capable in Form•Z, with the exception that breaking the object’s boundary with the boolean is not allowed. As you can see from the second video, it is completely capable in Modo with MeshFusion. Pretty amazing, its like having rendered booleans live while modeling.
