BackFace and PolyGroup Masking, ZBrush’s Hidden Gem

Morten Jæger has a look at two very useful functions in Zbrush that can allow you to better sculpt on the areas that you intend. The first is making areas by PolyGroup. This will make out the other areas other than the one that your brush has touched first. This can be very helpful when you want to sculpt larger areas without the fear of accidentally affecting others.

allows you to sculpt on thin meshes without affecting the mesh behind

For finer control, ZBrush also features backFace masking. With BackFace masking you can sculpt more smaller areas without affecting the side that is not seen by you view.

Morten shows a good example of sculpting the smaller parts of the ear, without affecting the opposite side of a thin-walled ear lobe.
