TurbulenceFD is an amazing plugin for Cinema 4D allowing you to create fluid simulations for all kinds of effects and animations. One of the things that it is not capable of is creating depth maps from the fluids it creates.
Creating a depth pass for a smoke simulation should be a simple task you might think
David Torno took a little experimenting and was able to develop a technique for rendering a depth pass for TurbulenceFD in Cinema 4D. David shows how this can be possible, and also shares a little Python script he created. TFDDepthLight script for C4D is the result of that technique in a one-click solution.
