Maya’s Bifrost has been steadily advancing in integration, features and toolsets since Naiad’s integration. Bifrost represents a procedural framework within Maya for creating liquid effects, using a fluid impact solver (FLIP).
how to use colorSets to drive the initial velocity of liquid emission.
Here, Autodesk’s product designer for Bifrost, Adrian Graham show how to drive the initial velocity of liquid emission using a slightly undocumented feature in colorSets.
Admittedly, Adrian notes that leveraging colorSets in Bifrost to drive velocity is less than ideal, although it does work. Until Bifrost gains velocity fields, then using colorSets will work in a pinch.
