Javier Toledo provides a nice overview for a certain set of VEX functions in Side FX Houdini. Javier looks at the VEX Sample functions that come stock with every copy of Houdini. “These are, many times, overlooked” Toledo notes. “They are a very powerful vector randomization functions”.
In most cases, people tend to use a simple Rand function in Houdini, but for most situations, that might not be enough. The Rand function only operated between zero to one, and doesn’t offer much control. Javier walks through creating a more complex vector randomization function, using the sample functions in Houdini. These can be great tools for easily gaining much more control over vector randomization.
