Working With Custom Particles in BMD Fusion

VFX artist Simon Ubsdell Shows Off Some of the Amazing Things You Can Do With Custom Particles Tool in Fusion

Compositor and VFX artist Simon Ubsdell dives into creating a fascinating field of animated particles working with Blackmagic Design Fusion’s Custom Particles. The tutorial covers using Fast Noise to drive the position of the particles. Ubsdell first shows how the system works, and then defines why the system works.

Fusion has a great many particle nodes that can help design customized effects, such as the pCustom tool. Similar to the Custom Tool within Fusion, pCustom lets you create personalized expressions that can affect the properties of particles. Think of pCustom as modifying particles rather than in the Custom Tool’s case, the pixels.
