A Look at Blender’s Measure Widget

BlenderDiplom checks out Blender 2.8’s new measure widget for 3D work.

Blender 2.8 has a monumental amount of changes and improvements that make blender more powerful and easier to use. BlenderDiplom’s Gottfried Hofmann is pulling a few choice new tools to cover over the course of a series of videos. The latest has a look into the new Measure widget in 2.8. The widget lets you measure distances in the viewport as well as angles and even things like the thickness of 3D objects.

Earlier versions of Blender had a ruler/protractor on the tool shelf that belonged to grease pencil. The measure tool is now in “widget” form and Hofmann covers how to use it with snaps and 3D objects. In a previous video Hofmann covered some of the changes and features in the camera widget in the latest build of Blender. Check that out here.
