Ocean Quigley shows how to make engraving-style hatching shaders in Blender.
There are a ton of hand-drawn effects to inspire us coming from the Blender community. They range from painting to crosshatching. A new tutorial from Ocean Quigley shows how you can build a great hand drawn look in a shader that works under Eevee. Inspiration for the style comes from artists like Gustave Doré’s illustrations for Dante’s Inferno, showing off an engraving style look.
“These are techniques for rendering 3D Models so that they look like they are hand-drawn.” The model used in the tutorial is Daniel Chester French’s sculpture “Spirit of Life,” scanned by Mesick Cohen Wilson Baker Architects, which you can download from Sketchfab to follow along.
