Cavalry is excellent for procedural animation. Think of it as C4D but for 2D animations like After Effects. Unlike After Effects, Cavalry is a modern take for motion designers. It allows you to create complex things easily.

Check out this new tutorial by Kyle Daily that shows how to create a DNA Helix animation in about a minute in Cavalry. The tutorial uses the duplicator, oscillator, and Points to Path to join some elements.
